Ditto

Ditto is card 3 of 62 in Fossil, released in October 1999, a Rare Holo. It is a Basic Colorless-type with 50 HP.

As a Basic Pokémon, Ditto needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

Illustrated by Keiji Kinebuchi. Kinebuchi contributed a smaller body of Wizards-era cards but is responsible for several memorable holos, with a warm, heavily textured style.

The card's flavor text gives Ditto a line of lore: "Capable of copying an enemy's genetic code to instantly transform itself into a duplicate of the enemy."

Fossil shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Ditto from the Unlimited copy.

For graded buyers, the holo window on Ditto is where most points are won or lost. Surface scratches and foil misregistration are common on Wizards-era cards, and centering was inconsistent enough that clean PSA 10s stay scarce. Read the colorless foil at a 45-degree angle under strong light before committing.

Buying Ditto well means pricing the exact print and grade, not the card name. The 1st Edition Ditto trades above the Unlimited copy, so confirm the stamp before you agree a number. Always see the holo surface in good light first.
