Ditto

Ditto is card 18 of 62 in Fossil, released in October 1999, a Rare. It is a Basic Colorless-type with 50 HP.

As a Basic Pokémon, Ditto needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

Illustrated by Keiji Kinebuchi. Kinebuchi contributed a smaller body of Wizards-era cards but is responsible for several memorable holos, with a warm, heavily textured style.

The Pokédex entry printed on Ditto reads: "Capable of copying an enemy's genetic code to instantly transform itself into a duplicate of the enemy."

A pink blob Pokémon that can transform into copies of other Pokémon. Unique mechanic in Gen 1. Fossil holo Ditto is one of the most beloved Fossil holos. The "Transform" mechanic translated to a famous TCG card mechanic where Ditto could become any basic Pokémon in play.

Based on recent eBay sales, raw copies trade from $6.12 to $28 depending on the print and a PSA 10 runs from $270 to $600. The 1st Edition print is the most valuable, with a PSA 10 near $600. The table on this page breaks the price down by print and grade, updated 2026-06-03.

Fossil shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Ditto from the Unlimited copy.

Non-holo Rares like Ditto are easier on surface but no kinder on centering. Wizards-era cards were less protected than the holos, so high-grade Ditto survivors can be scarcer than expected, with edge whitening the usual cap.

For Ditto, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Ditto can make sense.
