Hypno · Aquapolis, what to know.
About the Hypno card
Numbered 16 of 182 in Aquapolis, released in January 2003, Hypno is a Rare, a Stage 1 Psychic-type carrying 80 HP.
It evolves from Drowzee, so Hypno is a later-stage card that set-builders usually slot into a full evolution run rather than buy alone.
Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. Arita painted the Base Set Charizard and much of the early holo run, and his work has a painterly weight that set the visual tone of the Wizards era.
About Hypno in the Pokémon world
The fully evolved Drowzee. Holds a pendulum. Unsettling design. Fossil holo Hypno is a sleeper. Its art is one of the more striking in the set.
What is Hypno worth?
Hypno is a non-holo Rare. In Aquapolis, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Hypno trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Confirm the print and finish on Hypno before pricing it, since variant and rarity set the market more than the card name alone.
Grading and condition
On Hypno, look at the corners and the framed border first. Non-holo Rares took more handling than the chase holos, so a sharp, centered copy of Hypno in a true PSA 10 is harder to find than the print run suggests.
If you are collecting Hypno
For Hypno, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Hypno can make sense.
