Vileplume

Numbered 15 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, Vileplume is a Rare Holo, a Stage 2 Grass-type carrying 80 HP.

It evolves from Gloom, so Vileplume is a later-stage card that set-builders usually slot into a full evolution run rather than buy alone.

Illustrated by Keiji Kinebuchi. Kinebuchi contributed a smaller body of Wizards-era cards but is responsible for several memorable holos, with a warm, heavily textured style.

Vileplume carries this Pokédex flavor text: "The larger its petals, the more toxic pollen it contains. Its big head is heavy and hard to hold up."

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Vileplume from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

Expect the holo window to set the grade on Vileplume. Print misregistration and fine scratches in the grass foil are the usual reasons a copy lands at a 9, and edge whitening against the frame is the next thing a grader notes.
