Vaporeon

Numbered 12 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, Vaporeon is a Rare Holo, a Stage 1 Water-type carrying 80 HP.

It evolves from Eevee, so Vaporeon is a later-stage card that set-builders usually slot into a full evolution run rather than buy alone.

Illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Himeno is one of the most-recognized vintage illustrators, with a softer, more textured style that shows up across the Jungle and Neo runs.

Vaporeon carries this Pokédex flavor text: "Lives close to water. Its long tail is ridged with a fin that is often mistaken for a mermaid's."

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Vaporeon from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

On a holo like Vaporeon, surface is the grade cap. The water foil shows hairlines under raking light, and the print reveals scratches that flat scans miss. Centering on the left and right borders is the second thing to check.

When you go to buy Vaporeon, settle three things in order: the print variant, the condition, and a comp for that exact combination. A blended average across variants will mislead you on Vaporeon, so price the specific copy in front of you.
