Nidoqueen

Numbered 23 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, Nidoqueen is a Rare, a Stage 2 Grass-type carrying 90 HP.

It evolves from Nidorina, so Nidoqueen is a later-stage card that set-builders usually slot into a full evolution run rather than buy alone.

Illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Sugimori is the lead character designer of Pokémon itself, so his card art carries the tight, on-model look that defined how the creatures appear in the games.

Nidoqueen carries this Pokédex flavor text: "Its hard scales provide strong protection. It uses its hefty bulk to execute powerful moves."

The Ground-Poison final form of the Nidoran♀ line. One of the rare "queen" Pokémon. Jungle holo Nidoqueen is a quiet collector favorite. Centered PSA 10 examples are harder to find than expected for the print run.

Based on recent eBay sales, raw copies trade from $11 to $18 depending on the print and a PSA 10 runs from $110 to $350. The 1st Edition print is the most valuable, with a PSA 10 near $350. The table on this page breaks the price down by print and grade, updated 2026-05-12.

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Nidoqueen from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

Non-holo Rares like Nidoqueen are easier on surface but no kinder on centering. Wizards-era cards were less protected than the holos, so high-grade Nidoqueen survivors can be scarcer than expected, with edge whitening the usual cap.

For Nidoqueen, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Nidoqueen can make sense.
