Marowak · Jungle, what to know.
About the Marowak card
Marowak is card 39 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, an Uncommon. It is a Stage 1 Fighting-type with 60 HP.
As a Stage 1, it evolves from Cubone, which places Marowak deeper in its line and means most collectors hold it alongside the cards it evolves from.
Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. Arita painted the Base Set Charizard and much of the early holo run, and his work has a painterly weight that set the visual tone of the Wizards era.
The Pokédex entry printed on Marowak reads: "The bone it holds is its key weapon. It throws the bone skillfully like a boomerang to K.O. targets."

What is Marowak worth?
Based on recent eBay sales, raw copies trade from $2.17 to $8.87 depending on the print and a PSA 10 runs from $100 to $276. The 1st Edition print is the most valuable, with a PSA 10 near $276. The table on this page breaks the price down by print and grade, updated 2026-05-26.
Print variants and how to spot them
Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Marowak from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.
Grading and condition
Marowak grades forgivingly, but the same centering and edge standards apply. Pack-fresh raw copies are easy to find, which makes a clean PSA 10 submission a low-cost way to learn how the cardstock behaves under grading.
If you are collecting Marowak
Raw copies of Marowak are inexpensive enough that grading rarely pays unless you have a clearly pack-fresh example. For set completion, a clean sleeved Marowak is the practical move.
Three prints, three markets.
