About this card

Lickitung · Jungle, what to know.

About the Lickitung card

Numbered 38 of 64 in Jungle, released in June 1999, Lickitung is an Uncommon, a Basic Colorless-type carrying 90 HP.

As a Basic Pokémon, Lickitung needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

Illustrated by Mitsuhiro Arita. Arita painted the Base Set Charizard and much of the early holo run, and his work has a painterly weight that set the visual tone of the Wizards era.

Printed on the card, the Lickitung Pokédex entry reads: "Its tongue can be extended like a chameleon's. It leaves a stinging sensation when it licks enemies."

About Lickitung in the Pokémon world

A pink Pokémon with a long sticky tongue. Jungle Uncommon. Standard demand.

What is Lickitung worth?

Lickitung is an Uncommon, so raw copies are inexpensive and easy to find. The value is in condition: a genuine PSA 10, especially 1st Edition, can still reach a surprising figure for an otherwise common card. The live price above breaks it down by grade.

Print variants and how to spot them

Jungle shipped in 1st Edition and Unlimited, with no Shadowless print. The Edition 1 stamp under the artwork separates the scarcer 1st Edition Lickitung from the Unlimited copy. The set also has the famous No Symbol error from its first print run, which adds a premium when the lower-right set symbol is missing.

Grading and condition

Lickitung grades forgivingly, but the same centering and edge standards apply. Pack-fresh raw copies are easy to find, which makes a clean PSA 10 submission a low-cost way to learn how the cardstock behaves under grading.

If you are collecting Lickitung

Raw copies of Lickitung are inexpensive enough that grading rarely pays unless you have a clearly pack-fresh example. For set completion, a clean sleeved Lickitung is the practical move.
