Umbreon

Umbreon is card 13 of 75 in Neo Discovery, released in June 2001, a Rare Holo. It is a Stage 1 Darkness-type with 80 HP.

As a Stage 1, it evolves from Eevee, which places Umbreon deeper in its line and means most collectors hold it alongside the cards it evolves from.

The card's flavor text gives Umbreon a line of lore: "When darkness falls, the rings on the body begin to glow, striking fear in the hearts of anyone nearby."

Umbreon is a holo rare, one of the cards that holds Neo Discovery's value. The print variant decides most of it: a 1st Edition copy in high grade commands a large premium over a Shadowless or Unlimited one. In top-grade 1st Edition, Neo Discovery holos range from the mid hundreds for the lesser cards up to the set's marquee chase; raw and Unlimited copies trade for a fraction of that. Neo Discovery produced 1st Edition, Unlimited prints. For Umbreon, the print variant can change the price several times over, so identify it before you buy.

On a holo like Umbreon, surface is the grade cap. The darkness foil shows hairlines under raking light, and the print reveals scratches that flat scans miss. Centering on the left and right borders is the second thing to check.

Buying Umbreon well means pricing the exact print and grade, not the card name. The 1st Edition Umbreon trades above the Unlimited copy, so confirm the stamp before you agree a number. Always see the holo surface in good light first.
