As a Basic Pokémon, Rockruff needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

The card's flavor text gives Rockruff a line of lore: "This Pokémon can bond very strongly with its Trainer, but it also has a habit of biting. Raising a Rockruff for a long time can be challenging."
What is Rockruff worth?
