Yanma · Neo Discovery, what to know.
About the Yanma card
Numbered 36 of 75 in Neo Discovery, released in June 2001, Yanma is a Rare, a Basic Grass-type carrying 60 HP.
As a Basic Pokémon, Yanma needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.
Illustrated by Atsuko Nishida. Nishida is the original designer of Pikachu and many Gen 1 Pokémon, and her card work has a soft, rounded warmth that suits the friendlier creatures.
Printed on the card, the Yanma Pokédex entry reads: "If it flaps its wings really fast, it can generate shock waves that will shatter windows in the area."
What is Yanma worth?
Yanma is a non-holo Rare. In Neo Discovery, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Yanma trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Neo Discovery produced 1st Edition, Unlimited prints. For Yanma, the print variant can change the price several times over, so identify it before you buy.
Grading and condition
Yanma grades on centering and edges more than surface. The card was played and traded more freely than the holos, so a clean, well-centered Yanma is worth more than collectors assume.
If you are collecting Yanma
For Yanma, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Yanma can make sense.
