Sneasel · Neo Genesis, what to know.
About the Sneasel card
Sneasel is card 25 of 111 in Neo Genesis, released in December 2000, a Rare. It is a Basic Darkness-type with 60 HP.
As a Basic Pokémon, Sneasel needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.
Illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Sugimori is the lead character designer of Pokémon itself, so his card art carries the tight, on-model look that defined how the creatures appear in the games.
The Pokédex entry printed on Sneasel reads: "Its paws conceal sharp claws. If attacked, it suddenly extends the claws and startles its enemy."
About Sneasel in the Pokémon world
A Dark-Ice cat Pokémon. Quiet collector demand.
What is Sneasel worth?
Sneasel is a non-holo Rare. In Neo Genesis, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Sneasel trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Neo Genesis produced 1st Edition, Unlimited prints. For Sneasel, the print variant can change the price several times over, so identify it before you buy.
Grading and condition
Non-holo Rares like Sneasel are easier on surface but no kinder on centering. Wizards-era cards were less protected than the holos, so high-grade Sneasel survivors can be scarcer than expected, with edge whitening the usual cap.
If you are collecting Sneasel
For Sneasel, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Non-holo Rares from this era are cheap enough that a PSA 10 submission on a clean Sneasel can make sense.
