Lugia · Celebrations, what to know.
About the Lugia card
Lugia is card 22 of 25 in Celebrations, released in October 2021, a Rare. It is a Basic Colorless-type with 130 HP.
As a Basic Pokémon, Lugia needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.
Illustrated by Kouki Saitou.
The Pokédex entry printed on Lugia reads: "It is said to be the guardian of the seas. It is rumored to have been seen on the night of a storm."
About Lugia in the Pokémon world
A Psychic-Flying Legendary. The cover Pokémon of Pokémon Silver. Massive winged serpent silhouette. Neo Genesis holo Lugia is the marquee chase of the entire Neo era. 1st Edition PSA 10 Lugia commands prices comparable to top Base Set holos. Silver Tempest Lugia VSTAR is the modern equivalent and a tournament staple.
What is Lugia worth?
Lugia is a non-holo Rare. In Celebrations, value concentrates in the holo rares, so a Lugia trades modestly, though a clean, well-centered 1st Edition copy in PSA 10 is scarcer than the print run suggests and carries a real premium. Check the live price above for the figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Confirm the print and finish on Lugia before pricing it, since variant and rarity set the market more than the card name alone.
Grading and condition
Lugia grades on centering and edges more than surface. The card was played and traded more freely than the holos, so a clean, well-centered Lugia is worth more than collectors assume.
If you are collecting Lugia
For Lugia, check centering by eye, edge whitening on all four sides, and surface under angled light. Submission math on Lugia rarely works unless the card has independent demand.
