Lucario · Brilliant Stars, what to know.
About the Lucario card
Numbered 79 of 186 in Brilliant Stars, released in February 2022, Lucario is a Rare Holo, a Stage 1 Fighting-type carrying 120 HP.
It evolves from Riolu, so Lucario is a later-stage card that set-builders usually slot into a full evolution run rather than buy alone.
Illustrated by GIDORA.
Printed on the card, the Lucario Pokédex entry reads: "It controls waves known as auras, which are powerful enough to pulverize huge rocks. It uses these waves to take down its prey."
About Lucario in the Pokémon world
A Fighting-Steel anthropomorphic jackal Pokémon. One of the most-popular non-Legendary Pokémon designs since Generation 4. Mega Lucario ex from Mega Evolution is a marquee modern chase. Lucario consistently outperforms other Generation 4 non-Legendaries in collector demand.
What is Lucario worth?
Lucario is a holo rare, one of the cards that holds Brilliant Stars's value. The rarity tier decides most of it, since the same card prints at several tiers with very different prices. In top-grade 1st Edition, Brilliant Stars holos range from the mid hundreds for the lesser cards up to the set's marquee chase; raw and Unlimited copies trade for a fraction of that. The live market price above shows the current figure by grade.
Print variants and how to spot them
Confirm the print and finish on Lucario before pricing it, since variant and rarity set the market more than the card name alone.
Grading and condition
Grading Lucario comes down to the holo surface and the borders. The era's foil scratches easily, so even a pack-fresh Lucario can drop from a 10 to a 9 on a single hairline. Inspect the window at an angle and the corners against the frame.
If you are collecting Lucario
For Lucario, variant comes before condition. Confirm the exact rarity tier on the Lucario, since the spread between tiers is wide. Demand a clear photo of the Lucario holo for any raw purchase.
