As a Basic Pokémon, Elgyem needs no prior evolution to put into play, which made it a practical card in the era's decks.

The card's flavor text gives Elgyem a line of lore: "If this Pokémon stands near a TV, strange scenery will appear on the screen. That scenery is said to be from its home."
What is Elgyem worth?
